In the heart of the Luberon, just moments from Gordes and Roussillon, Le Domaine des Andéols unfolds across 32 hectares of unspoiled nature.

Once the childhood home of Olivier Massart - a visionary scenographer who redefined the runways of Paco Rabanne, Kenzo and Yves Saint Laurent - it has, since the late 1990s, been transformed into a singular and characterful retreat, now a member of Design Hotels.

Here, there is no polished palace nor conventional hospitality codes. Patrizia and Olivier Massart have imagined a place in their own image: generous, cultivated, and vibrant. The estate is an open-air art exhibition. More than 250 paintings, sculptures, photographs, and designer furniture pieces inhabit every space.

Art reveals itself everywhere: a Rothko canvas converses with contemporary furnishings, while sculptures populate the grounds, where olive trees, cypress, vegetable gardens and orchards intertwine around a majestic four-hundred-year-old plane tree.

ACTIVITIES

Le Domaine des Andéols is an invitation to slow down. One lingers by the pool, enjoys a game of tennis or pétanque before unwinding at the spa, or strolls through the grounds among sculptures and artworks scattered beneath the olive trees.

For art lovers, exhibitions and artist residencies, curated in collaboration with Parisian galleries, offer a rare and intimate cultural experience.

Beyond the gates of the estate, the Luberon and Provence unfold before you. The hilltop villages of Gordes and Roussillon, the markets of Apt and Coustellet, the Alpilles, the Fondation Vasarely, and the region’s renowned festivals: cultural and historical treasures abound at every turn.

Nature lovers will delight in exploring the ochre landscapes by bike, setting out on scenic hikes, or taking on the ascent of Provence’s iconic giant, Mont Ventoux. They may drift along the Sorgue by canoe or take to the skies in a hot air balloon above fields of lavender. They can also discover the Colorado Provençal, a former open-air ochre quarry, now listed as a protected natural site of historical significance.

And for epicureans, olive oil mills, vineyards, lavender distilleries, and the region’s celebrated restaurants complete this quintessential Provençal experience.

Le Domaine des Andéols is home to Le Platane, a poetic countryside restaurant set around the majestic tree from which it takes its name.

Guests may dine on a terrace nestled among the branches, beside a lily pond, or in the cool shade of the foliage. The cuisine is generous and flavourful, deeply rooted in the estate’s own vegetable garden and orchard.

The offer includes:

From Paris: 2h40 by TGV to Avignon TGV, then 1 hour by car or taxi - or 7 hours by car via the A6
From Lyon: 3h15 by car via the A7 - or TGV Lyon to Avignon (1 hour) followed by 1 hour by car or taxi
From Marseille: 1h30 by car via the A51 and the Luberon roads - or TGV Marseille to Avignon TGV (35 minutes) followed by 1 hour by car or taxi

Limited availability per day and per room category - early booking is recommended.

Reservations are non-cancellable, non-modifiable and non-refundable.

City tax: €5.39 per person per day, payable directly at the hotel

Pets: Accepted, €25 per pet per day
